About the Association

The Association was founded in 2002 by a group of pioneer teacher-publishers, who believed in making teaching materials available to all on the internet

Can my site join the ATW?

Who are we ?

Our members consititute a mix of current teachers, who host websites to help their own departments and schools, and former teachers and lecturers who make their teaching materials available to others.

We are pragmatic about business models - while some members fund their costs through advertising, many charge for their best quality materials to fund the free bits of the site. When you find a site that has useful material we would encourage you to donate or buy: many high quality sites have been forced to close in the last few years due to lack of funding.

The site is currently maintained by Teachable Ltd and kindly hosted by Teachit.

The Association is happy to list any sites that fit the following criteria:

  • Produced by teachers for the use of other teachers
  • A majority of original and unique content, rather than just links to other sites.
  • At least some content is freely available and relevant to the UK curriculum
  • The site must have been live for more than 3 months and respond quickly
  • Must have signs of having been editing within the last 6 months.

If in doubt, the site must be able to provide a referral from two UK teachers who can vouch for some of the content.

If you think your site fits these criteria, and you would like to apply, please email:
